About Rayshawn L. Wilson

After Rayshawn L. Wilson spent two years in prison for theft at just 18 years old, he was released in 1997; in 2002, he became the first person in his family to receive a college degree from Otterbein College; he majored in Sociology with a concentration in Criminology.
During his matriculation at Otterbein, Rayshawn excelled academically, athletically, and socially. He lettered in Varsity Football for three of his four years and represented Otterbein in the National College All Stars Game, for two consecutive years. At Otterbein he also became active in the African American Student Union; in 1999, he was initiated into Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity Incorporated. In 2000, Rayshawn received the Frederick Douglass Award for achievement.
Through his leadership and participation in these co-curricuar organizations, he displayed a devotion to his local and gloabl community through various service projects and events. Rayshawn was dedicated to the purpose of serving his community through mentoring juvenile delinquents and ex-offenders; he also contributed to various boards and organizations, including United Way of Central Ohio and Project Linden where he served as the board secretary and member of the Program Committee Chair. Additional career highlights included being recognized in Columbus for Who’s Who In Black Columbus (2009, 2011, 2013, & 2014).
Rayshawn progressed forward by earning his MS degree in criminal justice administration from Tiffin University, and a MSEd degree in community counseling from the University of Dayton. In 2009, he was the first to be inducted into the African American Hall of Fame at Otterbein College. Mr. Wilson is also recognized as an Internationally Certified Clinical Supervisor. Rayshawn is the proud father of five children, Jillian, Baldwin Alicia, Justin, and Cameron.
Rayshawn is the sole proprietor at Pathways Counseling & Consulting Services, LLC where he is committed to providing a broad range of innovative, high quality services in the areas of substance abuse, mental health and criminal justice in the Central Ohio area. He is also a Licensed Independent Chemical Dependency Counselor and Licensed Professional Counselor all through the State of Ohio. He posesses over 10 years of diverse experience in social service and community corrections including management, training, counseling,emotionally/behaviorally disturbed youth and adult offender population.
Today, he believes that his experiences and knowledge benefits others; he continually seeks to work within the community, focused on outreach, public speaking and implementing positive programs to share lessons (A.K.A. Roars of Truth) from his journey. Rayshawn is a keynote speaker who has previously lectured at correctional institutions, conferences, high schools, radio shows, colleges and universities.
